Best forwards on FPL

In this article, we will highlight the top 10 forwards worth picking up in your Fantasy Premier League side for the 2022/23 campaign.

10. Aleksandr Mitrovic, Fulham (6.5m)

Fulham are back in the Premier League and you know what that means, Aleksandr Mitrovic is once again being considered by countless FPL managers.

The Serbian had a superb 2021/22 in the Championship and broke the record for most goals in the division, suggesting he will be a good budget forward this campaign.

As a result, had Mitrovic never played in the Premier League before, he would no doubt be in everyone’s drafts.

However, one thing to consider when selecting Mitrovic is he has not had a double-digit goal-tally in the top-flight since 2018/19.

9. Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United (10.5m)

Cristiano Ronaldo defied expectations in 2021/22, scoring the third-most goals in the Premier League despite turning 37 during the campaign.

As a result, there is still a chance he could be worth his FPL price-tag this year. However, he is lower down the list this season due to his future, at the time of writing, being up in the air and because Harry Kane and Erling Haaland are only 1.0m more.

8. Callum Wilson, Newcastle United (7.5m)

Callum Wilson has been a very popular FPL choice in the past and with his price still 7.5m and Newcastle now the richest club in the world, there is a good chance we could see Wilson be one of the highest-scoring forwards on the game.

However, he is fairly low down this list due to his horrid injury record.

7. Patrick Bamford, Leeds United (7.5m)

Like Callum Wilson, Patrick Bamford is a slight risk early in the campaign due to his recent injury issues.

The forward featured just nine times in the league last season due to injury and has not completed 90 minutes since September of 2021.

However, he is expected to be Leeds’ main forward this season, and if he can return to his form of the 2020/21 season, his price of 7.5m would be more than justified.

6. Ollie Watkins, Aston Villa (7.5m)

With Bamford and Wilson’s injury issues, Ollie Watkins is one of the more reliable mid-range forwards on 2022/23 FPL.

He has managed to net over 10 goals in both of his previous seasons in the top-flight and with Villa spending well this summer and Watkins their main striker, he should have little issue doing that for a third successive campaign.

5. Jamie Vardy, Leicester City (9.5m)

Jamie Vardy has been one of the most consistent forward in the Premier League since Leicester City’s historic title-winning campaign.

Since that season, in which he scored 24, he has netted 13, 20, 18, 23, 15 and 15 goals in each season.

And, whilst Vardy is now 35, it is worth remembering Leicester have no European football to contend with in 2022/23, so there should be less of a chance we see Vardy dropped/injured in the league.

4. Michail Antonio, West Ham (7.5m)

Michail Antonio is currently heading into 2022/23 as West Ham’s only real striking option yet again.

This should bode well for his goal-scoring return on FPL. He netted 10 and assisted 10 in the league last season, despite also having to play in the Europa League.

Should West Ham sign another striker in the summer window, his value may drop. But for now, he is expected to be one of the Hammers’ biggest attacking threats once more.

3. Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal (8.0m)

As Gabriel Jesus has never been used as a no.9 on a regular basis before, he is a slight risk on FPL.

However, Arsenal have plenty of quality attacking-midfield options behind the Brazilian who should be able to provide the chances he needs to get amongst the goals.

Mikel Arteta also looks to his strikers to drop back and create chances for the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, meaning Jesus should also get plenty of assists this term as well.

2. Erling Haaland, Manchester City (11.5m)

Erling Haaland joined Manchester City in June. With the Norwegian managing around a goal a game for Borussia Dortmund during his time in Germany and Manchester City having the best attack in England, there is an expectation that Haaland will smash the 20-goal mark during his debut season.

Granted, Haaland may need some time to adapt to the English game and Pep Guardiola’s system, but even if he doesn’t manage a goal a game for City, he should still be able to net plenty whilst playing in a team that includes the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Joao Cancelo.

1. Harry Kane, Tottenham (11.5m)

The best forward option on FPL this year is Harry Kane.

The Englishman had a very slow start to 2021/22 after his failed move to Manchester City.

However, he still ended the seaosn with 17 goals and nine assists in the league, making him the top-scoring forward on FPL.

And with no transfer saga this summer, Kane should once again be back above the 20-goal mark this year.
