West Bromwich Albion vs Ipswich Town

West Brom suffered a setback against Southampton before the break, and it doesn’t get any easier as they host Ipswich, the start of a big run of fixtures for them - their next few games are against Cardiff, Leicester and Sunderland.

Ipswich will have to look over their shoulders all weekend, particularly the Leeds result on Friday night, but they have dealt with that type of pressure on more than one occasion already this season. I think they could be held here, but a draw at The Hawthorns is a decent result for anyone.

Speaking on the Championship Predictions podcast, David Prutton predicts a close game between promotion chasing West Brom and Ipswich.

Birmingham vs Sheffield Wednesday, Saturday 3pm

This is where his tenure really starts for Wayne Rooney. Birmingham have had five tough games against top-half opponents, but this is at home against bottom of the table. It is a must-win game and he’ll know that.

Sheffield Wednesday have just a point on the road all season. Their win over Rotherham a few weeks ago proved to be a false dawn. It was the only time they had scored in their last nine games. I think Rooney gets off the mark here.

Prediction: 1-0 (Sky Bet odds)

Huddersfield vs Southampton, Saturday 3pm

Huddersfield have been somewhat fortunate thus far that there are three teams worse than they are in the Championship. It has given Darren Moore a bit of breathing space over what has been a poor time in charge for him.

Southampton will be confident on the run that they have been on that this should be another win. The main concern for Russell Martin has been that the scorelines have not been hugely convincing. You can’t keep winning by the odd goal in this league, but I think they’ll win this one by two!

Prediction: 0-2 (Sky Bet odds)

Leicester vs Watford, Saturday 3pm

It shows how well Leicester have started this season that losing two games in a row can draw such attention. The break probably came at a good time for Enzo Maresca, so they could have a bit of a reset.

Watford are quietly improving and climbing the league after a very mixed start to the season. They are six unbeaten, but I can’t really see that being seven. Home win.

Prediction: 2-0 (Sky Bet odds)

Plymouth vs Sunderland, Saturday 3pm

Plymouth have played some nice stuff this season but haven’t always turned performances into points. It is something they need to rectify if they want to climb the table.

This is a long, long trip for Sunderland. But one they hope will be fruitful after an excellent performance before the international break against Birmingham. Goals here! And a draw.

Prediction: 2-2 (Sky Bet odds)
