Simom Hallett: Plymouth Argyle owner admits mistakes in Championship

Plymouth Argyle owner Simon Hallett says the club has made mistakes in its first season back in the Championship.

The Pilgrims must beat Hull City on the final day of the season to ensure last season’s League One champions stay in the second tier for a second successive season.

Having not spent a day in the relegation zone, a drop in form under short-lived head coach Ian Foster has left them one point above the relegation places.

Eight losses in Foster’s last 11 games saw Argyle blow what was a nine-point gap to the bottom three in mid-January.

“Where we’ve arrived at is not too far off where we’d hoped to be,” Hallett told BBC Spotlight.

“It’s in our own hands at the end of the season, and if we can avoid relegation this season it’ll be an achievement akin to that of last season.

“If we fail now, it’s fair to say we’ve already achieved a lot on a low budget.

“But we’ve got some things wrong this season and we’ll learn from that and try not to make the same mistakes again.”
