Crystal Palace loanee Conor Gallagher has responded to comparisons with Chelsea legend, Frank Lampard.

Brighton vs Crystal Palace

The weekend’s Premier League action kicked off at the Amex when Brighton played host to bitter rivals, Crystal Palace.

It was the home outfit that headed into the tie much better positioned in the Premier League.

However, when all was said and done, the points were shared. Conor Gallagher fired Crystal Palace into the lead after 69 minutes:

However, Palace were unable to hold out for a win, with an 87th-minute Joachim Andersen own goal bringing the score back on level terms.

Conor Gallagher responds to Frank Lampard comparison

After scoring another goal for Crystal Palace, Conor Gallagher would earn comparisons with Chelsea legend Frank Lampard on Friday, when Jamie Carragher said the below on commentary for Sky:

“His manager likened this man to Frank Lampard before the game and how often did we see this in his [Lampard’s career]. The right place, the right time and that’s a fantastic finish.”

With Gallagher continuing to make some searching runs from deep in midfield and arriving late in the box it is easy to see why the comparison is being made between Lampard and the 21-year-old who is set to return to parent club Chelsea in the summer.

However, when quizzed on the comparison post-game, Gallagher appeared to play it down:

“Let’s be serious… Frank Lampard, I can’t be compared to someone like that.”

“I couldn’t be happier when it went in. I was just trying to get contact on it! I did try and get it in the corner, I didn’t even look up I don’t think.”
