Inter Milan explore Romelu Lukaku loan deal following Chelsea woes31 May 2022
Inter Milan have begun exploring a move to bring Romelu Lukaku back to San Siro this summer after a torrid 12 months at Chelsea.
The Belgian striker joined the Blues in August 2021 from Inter, for a fee of 115m euros, but quickly fell out of favour under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.
He did his own cause no favours with an interview conducted with Sky Italy, in which he claimed that he would love to return to Inter Milan and that he was not happy at Chelsea, but failed to redeem himself on the pitch either, with just 8 Premier League goals amid continuing tactical concerns over his place in London.
Inter Milan explore loan move
Now, as per Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com, Inter are exploring a potential loan move for the striker, in an attempt to bring him back to Italy. They cannot afford anything like the fee it would require to bring him back on a permanent deal, even should they end up selling Alessandro Bastoni. Nor could they afford his astounding wages.
As a result, ‘The talks today centre around arranging a possible loan deal where Lukaku agrees to cut his salary by around 40 percent to facilitate a return to San Siro’, claims the report.
However, there are further complications. Any loan deal would require a loan fee, and as per the report it could prove to be a sizeable one, with claims of around 12m euros being demanded by the newly-Boehly led club.
Whether any compromise can be made on that fee following the recent takeover remains to be seen.
