Newcastle ready to rival West Ham in striker pursuit
1 July 2022Newcastle United are ready to position themselves in the race for Chelsea star Armando Broja, according to reports.
Hitman Broja is of course fresh off an impressive stint in England’s southeast, after linking up with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton on a temporary basis last summer.
All told, despite something of a barren spell in front of goal over the latter months of the campaign, the highly-regarded Albanian racked up a respectable nine goals across all competitions, six of which came by way of the Premier League.

It is Broja’s all-round exploits, though – the 20-year-old boasts a rare combination of size, athleticism and touch – which are understood to have seen interest in his services begin to mount ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
To this point, it is of course West Ham United who have been most widely tipped to launch an assault for Broja, desperate to add to their paper thin attacking ranks this summer.
But, as alluded to above, confirmation of a 2nd Premier League club entering the fray for the youngster has today been forthcoming.
The outfit in question? Newcastle United.
The info comes courtesy of the reliable Luke Edwards of The Telegraph, who has revealed that the Magpies ‘have an active interest in Chelsea forward Armando Broja’.
Eddie Howe and co, though, will need to wait it out to ascertain if Broja becomes available for transfer, with those in a position of power at Chelsea yet to come to a definitive decision on the Albanian international’s future.
#nufc have an active interest in Chelsea forward Armando Broja but are waiting to see what London club want to do with the player. As I said earlier in week, there is a sense of calm at SJP following early transfer breakthroughs and they’re assessing various offensive options
