James Traffford: Burnley goalkeeper not surprised by his success

Burnley boss Scott Parker described him as “world-class” for his efforts this term, hailing his resolve to become the best stopper in the Championship this term after losing his place in the side at the tail-end of last season.

In addition to his league achievements, Trafford was named in Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad earlier this year, though he is yet to make his full Three Lions debut.

Off the back of an incredible campaign, Trafford said he is aware that there will be interest in him this summer, but he intends to remain grounded.

“I’ve got an incredibly good circle around me. It’s very small but it’s incredibly good. When the season ends I’ll go on holiday and relax from football and then I’ll start getting ready for the national team in the summer,” he added.

“I don’t go on my phone too much. I’m not naive enough to say I don’t see any of the noise around me but it doesn’t bother me. Whatever happens will happen. I’ve done all I can this season.”
