Sidnei Tavares: Blackburn Rovers sign Portuguese midfielder
21 June 2025Blackburn have signed former Leicester City midfielder Sidnei Tavares from Portuguese club Moreirense on a three-year contract.
The 23-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, came through the Foxes academy and featured twice in the club’s Premier League campaign of 2020/21.
Tavares, who has represented Portugal at youth level, returned to his homeland with Porto the following summer.
He had a spell in Major League Soccer on loan at Colorado Rapids before joining Moreirense a year ago, scoring once in 29 Primeira Liga appearances.
Tavares becomes Rovers’ second new arrival so far this summer, following Belgian winger Dion de Neve to Ewood Park.
