Jonathan Varane: QPR pay undisclosed fee for Sporting Gijon midfielder

Queens Park Rangers have signed ball-winning midfielder Jonathan Varane from Spanish club Sporting Gijon for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old Frenchman made 25 appearances for second-tier side Gijon last season, having joined them in 2022.

He is the fifth signing of the summer by Rangers following Paul Nardi, Liam Morrison, Hevertton Santos and Zan Celar.

“I know the style of QPR and I think for me it is a good move to continue my career here,” Varane told the club website., external
