Zak Swanson: Portsmouth defender signs new two-year contract
24 June 2026Analysis – Andrew Moon, Portsmouth commentator at BBC Radio Solent
Last season felt like a breakthrough for Swanson.
Stepping in for the injured Connor Ogilvie, he excelled as a makeshift left-back, to the point where John Mousinho said it might now be his best position.
Swanson’s four years at the club have been a slow burn. He has always had the ability but has shown it in phases rather than week in, week out.
If Terry Devlin does depart the club this summer, which is very possible at this stage, Swanson may have the chance to stake a claim to being a regular in the starting 11.
