Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly and director Mark Walter have agreed to sell their 25 per cent stake in the club to majority shareholders Clearlake Capital in a deal which values Chelsea at £5bn.
The deal paves the way for Clearlake to take full control of Chelsea, owning 86.5 per cent of the club, with Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss owning 13.5 per cent.

Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss has also sold his stake, meaning Clearlake – led by co-founders Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano – have now acquired full control of the club.
Boehly, Walter and Wyss each had a 12.8% stake, with Clearlake previously owning 61.5% of the Blues.

Clearlake, under the leadership of Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, effectively run the club even though Boehly is the chairman.
The gradual worsening of relations has been described as a “culture clash” rather than a major blow-up.
There are complaints from sources on one side that Eghbali is too involved on the football side of the operation on a day-to-day basis and needs to leave the experts to do their job.
But Clearlake insists that he only helps on the financial side of deals and allows analysts and sporting directors
Chelsea’s co-owners are looking to buy each other out amid a rift at board level.
