By Total Football News

On Tuesday, we asked for your thoughts on whether or not Oxford United will avoid relegation from the Championship.

The U’s are two points adrift of safety with four games to play – three of which are against sides challenging for promotion (Derby, Wrexham and Millwall), while the other comes against already-relegated Sheffield Wednesday.

Here are a selection of your responses:

Derby County 1-2 Ipswich Town: Leif Davis heads winner at Pride Park

By Total Football News

The Derby defence struggled to deal with Ipswich’s clever movement and incisive attacking play – particularly down the left flank against the outstanding Jack Clarke.

Clarke, Anis Mehmeti and Ivan Azon all provided a regular threat, with the opening goal also coming from a corner kick on the left where Travis got his positioning all wrong to send a textbook downward header past Rams goalkeeper Josh Vickers.

Mehmeti had the

Middlesbrough: Abdoulaye Kante heads to Saint-Etienne on loan

By Total Football News

Middlesbrough midfielder Abdoulaye Kante will spend the rest of the season on loan at Saint-Etienne.

Kante only moved to Boro last summer for an undisclosed fee on a five-year contract from French side Troyes.

The Ivory Coast player appeared in five games, but only started one Championship match.

All of those were during Rob Edwards’ spell in charge, with Kante yet to play since Kim Hellberg arrived as head coach

Preston 0-1 Derby: Patrick Agyemang heads Rams to victory

By Total Football News

Both of these sides had been knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend with Preston losing at home to Wigan and the Rams losing 3-1 to Leeds at Pride Park.

Yet only one bounced back from that disappointment with Derby hitting their straps early on and largely keeping a flat Preston outfit on the backfoot all afternoon.

The chances, such as they were in a goalless first half, mostly

Mohamed Salah: Questions still remain as Liverpool forward heads off to Africa Cup of Nations

By Total Football News

Speaking after the game, Ekitike described sharing a pitch with Salah as “a blessing”, adding he was “the kind of player who makes us like to watch football”.

But the French forward and Co won’t now share a pitch with their team-mate until January at the earliest, with Salah potentially missing eight games if Egypt go all the way to the final in Morocco on 18 January.

“I suppose

Preston North End 1-2 Blackburn Rovers: Andri Gudjohnsen heads winner

By Total Football News

Rovers soaked up early Preston pressure and goalkeeper Aynsley Pears denied Lewis Dobbin when he parried the North End midfielder’s left-footed effort.

Pears rescued Rovers again when he saved Michael Smith’s shot with his left hand at full stretch and debutant George Pratt, recalled on loan from National League North side Chorley on the eve of the game, made a crucial block from the rebound.

From there, Blackburn cranked up

Barry Bannan: Sheffield Wednesday captain calls for cool heads

By Total Football News

Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan has urged his side “not to get caught up in the noise” in Sunday’s Steel City derby against Sheffield United.

The veteran Scot, 35, has made 400 league appearances for the Owls and is winless in five matches against their city rivals.

Wednesday lost the reverse fixture 1-0 at Bramall Lane in November and have not beaten the Blades since February 2012.

“Both teams are

Manchester United 3-2 Ipswich Town: Maguire heads winner for 10 men

By Total Football News

Manchester United’s ability to create mayhem from nothing is incredible.

After a terrible week off the pitch, with chief executive Omar Berrada confirming on Monday up to 200 members of staff could lose their jobs and Amorim’s criticism of a team that ‘didn’t turn up’ for 70 minutes at Goodison Park, it should have been automatic the home players would be fully focussed from the first whistle.

To concede so

Fulham 2-1 Nottingham Forest: Calvin Bassey heads winner for hosts

By Total Football News

Fulham have found wins hard to come by on their own patch of late, registering four draws and a defeat at Craven Cottage since 5 December.

This was a game where boss Marco Silva definitely did not leave the handbrake on, and perhaps afforded a bit of extra attacking leeway his Fulham players responded with a performance full of skill and swagger.

It was borne out in the statistics as
