Portsmouth boss John Mousinho says he wants to get their first league win “over and done with” so his side can begin to look ahead with less pressure this season.
After nine matches of their return to the second tier, Pompey have drawn five, lost four and remain the only winless team in the Championship.
“I felt we didn’t need this international break, it would have been best to keep
Mousinho joined the Blues from Oxford United, where he had a player-coach role, in January 2023, steering them from 15th to eighth in League One by the end of the season.
Portsmouth secured promotion and the League One title in a memorable 3-2 victory over Barnsley in April that saw fans flood onto the pitch after the full time whistle.

“There’s plenty going on still,” Mousinho
The head coach highlighted a particular market that might become available to him as the window progresses.
As the Premier League and Championship seasons get under way across the next two weeks, fringe and academy players will learn more about their futures and whether they might need to look elsewhere for game time.
Last season, the Blues hit the jackpot with a number of loanees from England’s top two tiers,
Southampton manager Russell Martin has described Portsmouth’s promotion to the Championship as a “great achievement” for boss John Mousinho.
Martin said that the pair know each other well and played together at under-18s level.
“I’m pleased a young British manager is getting an opportunity and I’m pleased for him personally,” Martin said.
“For our fans though, it doesn’t mean I’m
