Leicester boss Gary Rowett spoke to BBC Sport following their 1-1 draw with Millwall.
“It was always going to be a tough evening knowing that we sealed our fate on Tuesday. There was a little bit of me wondering how we would respond and how we would perform.
“We spoke candidly about the need to be professional and the need to make sure that we did out jobs at the
Rowett admitted he “expected more” than the one win and six draws he has overseen in his 10 games at the Foxes’ helm, and went as far as describing it as “probably the toughest” relegation rescue mission he has taken on – having previously pulled struggling sides away from trouble as Oxford United, Millwall and Birmingham City boss.
The team he is in charge of will go on to rank
Rowett certainly lived up to his reputation for straight-talking when confessing to how bad a situation Leicester are in with four games remaining.

“That’s the club’s concern, that’s out of our hands,” Rowett said.

Championship strugglers Leicester City are poised to name former player Gary Rowett as their new head coach.
BBC Radio Leicester report the 51-year-old, who was sacked as Oxford boss two months ago, took training on Wednesday.
Rowett now looks set to be the permanent replacement for Marti Cifuentes, who was sacked three weeks ago.
The Foxes are third from bottom in the Championship, two points adrift of safety with 14
It felt like a “back me or sack me” interview that he gave to BBC Radio Oxford. Erick Thohir, the club’s owner, after consultation with his senior management team in Oxford, chose the latter.
“I’m a head coach and have been for a long time,” Rowett told BBC Radio Oxford after Saturday’s defeat by Charlton Athletic.
“The job’s really simple, if you don’t win games of football then someone either
Having won just four Championship games in the first half of last season, Oxford were staring at an immediate return to League One.
But they appointed the experienced Rowett – who had managed Millwall, Birmingham City, Derby County and Stoke City in the second tier – with the aim of securing Championship survival.
He turned Oxford’s fortunes around quickly, winning three successive matches over the Christmas period to open up
Despite an encouraging start to the campaign, the U’s hit a rough patch around Christmas that ended with previous boss Des Buckingham losing his job.
Buckingham’s sacking was met with a fair bit of criticism by some Oxford fans. He was a popular figure at the Kassam, having led them to promotion the summer before.
But in his place came former Millwall boss Rowett, a man with plenty of
