Luke Williams believes Jamie Paterson has earned the right to consider his options this summer but says the offer of a new Swansea City contract “won’t be there indefinitely”.
Paterson, 32, will be a free agent when his current deal expires at the end of this month.

Luke Williams says Przemyslaw Placheta could yet have a future at Swansea City despite being released by the Championship club last month.
Swansea announced in May that winger Placheta, who signed on a free transfer from Norwich City in January, was to depart at the end of his short-term contract.
But Placheta, 26, is being looked after by Swansea’s staff after suffering a significant hamstring injury in March.
Williams says
Plymouth Argyle have signed former Swansea City full-back Nathanael Ogbeta.
The 23-year-old was a free agent and is the club’s first signing since Wayne Rooney was appointed as head coach last week.
The former Manchester City and England youth player spent the second half of last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers and has also had spells at Peterborough United and Shrewsbury Town.
Argyle have not disclosed the length of
Veteran Swansea City defender Kyle Naughton has agreed a new one-year contract with the Championship club.
Naughton, 35, had been due to become a free agent this summer.
The long-serving right-back – who can also operate in central defence – will now remain at Swansea until 2025.
Naughton missed the closing stages of the 2023-24 season after suffering a hamstring injury in the derby win over Cardiff City in March.
There are other “good signs”, Williams points out, alongside room for improvement.
“We need to be smart about what minutes we give which players – who is suffering, who is in a good place mentally, who is in a good place physically, who is quicker to recover,” he said.

Swansea lost Joel Piroe, who reached the 20-goal mark in each of his two seasons in Wales, to Leeds last summer and replaced him with Jerry Yates, who struck 10 times in his first campaign at the club.
Jamal Lowe was the Swans’ joint leading scorer alongside Yates in 2023-24, but he has now come to the end of a year-long loan.
