Jordan Pickford, Everton, goalkeeper, £5.1m – Manchester United (h)

United have scored just twice in their past four league games while Everton are flying under David Moyes.

While the Toffees may not be razor sharp at the back, they still have two clean sheets in their past four and home advantage here.

Pickford racks up save points too and even has an assist in him.

Gabriel, Arsenal, £6.3m – West

Mohamed Salah (vice captain), Liverpool, £13.7m – away at Brentford

A first blank since gameweek seven for the Egyptian last time and well done if you followed the advice of this article and chose a different captain.

That choice this week is not as easy – Brentford concede a fair few goals – but he doesn’t have the armband again. You’d expect him to get a return but Palmer, probably,

Bruno Fernandes (captain), Manchester United, £8.3m – home to Southampton

Fernandes has four goals and seven assists this season (along with two red cards) and he is chugging along as the 10th best midfielder this season.

Seasoned FPL players know the Portuguese has many avenues to points – his xGI is always high and he’s on penalties.

Look at what he did against strugglers Leicester and Everton at home –

Matz Sels, Nottingham Forest, keeper, £4.8m – away at Wolves

Forest’s miserly defence is aiming for a third straight clean sheet and takes on a Wolves side without banned talisman Matheus Cunha.

Since week 11, Cunha has been involved in 53% of Wolves’ goals, scoring nine.

They could really struggle without him – alright, they still scored at Spurs when he had left the pitch but everyone does against Tottenham

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool, £13.5m – away at West Ham

Even in a “quietish” game on Boxing Day, Salah still got nine points.

It’s hard to see a week in the near future where you wouldn’t captain him too.

Luis Diaz, Liverpool, £7.5m – away at West Ham

Diaz is a risky, mega-high upside pick. He rarely starts back-to-back games but, with four double-digit returns (13,14,15 and 16 points) in 11

Mohamed Salah (captain), Liverpool, £13.5m – home to Leicester City

No words needed – perma-captain until told otherwise.

Kevin de Bruyne, Manchester City, £9.5m – home to Everton

I think everyone is expecting City, at some point in this awful run of defeats, to snap out of it, find form and absolutely thrash somebody.

Well why not this week?

De Bruyne is a high-risk, high-upside pick in a game that

Mohamed Salah (captain), Liverpool, £13.4m – away at Tottenham

We are going back to the Egyptian King as captain this week.

Last week was the first time he had failed to score since gameweek seven and he still got an assist.

I’m looking at that Tottenham 3-4 Chelsea game a few weeks ago and picturing the same scenario on Sunday.

Spurs can’t defend and are also injury-hit at the back

Nick Pope, Newcastle, keeper, £5m – home to Leicester City

Newcastle have let in seven in their past two games – but hear me out!

Pope has made 54 saves this season at a rate of more than three per game, so you are almost guaranteed a save point.

And Newcastle should dominate possession against Leicester – it’s not hard to imagine a home win to nil.

Jurrien Timber, Arsenal,

Mohamed Salah (captain), Liverpool £13.3m – away at Everton

First name on the teamsheet, no arguments at the moment.

Salah is on for a historic FPL season and we’re riding that wave.

Rogers, a popular budget pick at the start of the season, has had two frustrating runs of blanks this season and you can see why his ownership has dropped

Stefan Ortega, Manchester City, keeper, £5.2m – home to Nottingham Forest

Two weeks ago, triple Arsenal defence paid off against Forest at home so we’re going back to the well again.

Arsenal restricted Forest to zero shots on target in that match. City’s defence isn’t quite as good and they’ve played pretty poorly recently.

However, they still have quality players and have managed at least 11 clean sheets per season
