Miley’s level-headedness also made him a firm favourite of former Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe.
Howe even trusted Miley to fill in out of postion at right-back when Tino Livramento sustained a series of niggling injuries in his final campaign in charge.

Tottenham have signed Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush on loan until the end of the season, with an obligation to make the deal permanent for £60m next summer.
The 27-year-old Egypt international will join former City team-mate Savio at Spurs, after the Brazilian moved to north London for an initial fee of £75m on Tuesday.
“Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world,
Marmoush scored 16 goals in 62 appearances in all competitions for City following his move from Frankfurt.
Eight of those came in 36 appearances in 2025-26, but his Premier League involvement fell considerably.
He started only eight league games and played around 700 minutes, fewer than he managed after joining midway through the prior campaign.
His league return was three goals and three assists, with his 3.53 expected goals figure
Savinho’s involvement for City fell sharply last season after the club signed winger Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in January.
He played 821 Premier League minutes, scoring once and providing one assist, while featuring in only 31% of City’s available minutes across all competitions.
That was a significant drop from the previous campaign, when he played 54% of City’s minutes.
Yet his 2024-25 numbers show why Tottenham are prepared to invest
Savio joins Tottenham from Man City in an £85m deal; Spurs will pay an initial £75m for the 22-year-old, with a further £10m available in add-ons; Savio had been a long-term Tottenham target; Brazilian’s arrival takes Spurs’ summer spending past the £300m barrier

West Ham have completed the signing of winger Manor Solomon from Tottenham on a three-year contract.
The Championship club did not disclose the fee, but the Hammers are understood to have paid about £5m to make the Israel international their third permanent signing of the summer.
Solomon, 27, made 19 appearances for Italian side Fiorentina on loan last season.
