Captain Sam Morsy expects Ipswich Town to “come back stronger” following their dramatic defeat at Cardiff City.

Ipswich are now third in the Championship with nine matches to play.

“The two goals were disappointing by our standards. But that’s football – we’ve won plenty of games late,” Morsy told BBC Radio Suffolk.

“It can happen if you’re not completely dialled in, which I don’t think we were in the last bit.

“Obviously there was a lot going on in the game but I felt we could have done a little bit better for both goals.”

Ipswich are now four points adrift of leaders Leicester City and one behind second-placed Leeds United as they look to complete back-to-back promotions.

“You have to go to the last whistle, no-one’s going to roll over for us – it’s not a nice feeling, but it will motivate us to come back better and stronger,” said Morsy.

“Every time we’ve lost this season, we’ve reacted really well – and that’s the sort of reaction we want.

“It’s not a bad position at all and we’ll keep going. We’ve had plenty of good days and we’ll work hard for more of them.”

Kieffer Moore’s goal, against one of his former clubs, made it six in nine games since he joined Town on loan from Bournemouth.

“He gives so much to the team,” added Morsy. “He works so hard, and he’s a real natural goalscorer.

“He’s going to score a lot of goals between now and the end of the season, I’m sure.”

Ipswich are at home to next-to-bottom Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
