Joe Allen: Swansea City role ‘opened door’ for Wales return, says midfielder

Wales midfielder Joe Allen says his role at Swansea City “opened the door” for his return to international football.

The 34-year-old, who has started only two league fixtures for Swansea so far this season, came out of international retirement last month having not played for Wales since the 2022 World Cup.

Allen is now hoping the get the opportunity to play at a second World Cup, in 2026, though the immediate focus is on Nations League games against Turkey this Saturday and Iceland three days later.
