Middlesbrough 0-3 Coventry City: Sky Blues see off 10-man Boro

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick told BBC Tees:

“We didn’t start the game well. If anything the red card settled us down and forced us to play better.

“The boys dealt with playing with 10 men well and I fancied us to get back into it.

“As the second half progressed, we gave ourselves chances, but the second goal was the big goal.

“I’ve not looked at the two yellow cards for Hayden Hackney. The referee’s made a decision and he’s not going to change it now.”

Coventry City manager Mark Robins told BBC CWR:

“Regardless of what happened with the sending-off we were brilliant.

“The players showed a lot of courage and lot of quality. There were some really good performances out there.

“We lost Ellis Simms to a foot injury before the game but Brandon Thomas-Asante showed he’s an able player and put them under a lot of pressure.

“It’s important to get the clean sheet because we can’t keep conceding goals.”
