Millwall 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday: Femi Azeez scores winner for home side
27 November 2025Wednesday were transformed from the side who surrendered so meekly in Sunday’s Steel City derby humiliation by Sheffield United at Hillsborough.
Barry Bannan had a left-footed curler saved by Max Crocombe before Millwall’s Kiwi goalkeeper produced a fine fingertip stop to touch away Bailey Cadamarteri’s 20-yard effort.
Yan Valery blazed over when he should have hit the target before Crocombe backpedalled furiously to touch away Bannan’s outrageous shot from just outside the centre circle.
Millwall struggled to get out of first gear and Caleb Taylor headed wide at the back post before Thierno Ballo was thwarted by Ethan Horvath.
Millwall had a let-off when McNeill thundered a shot against the underside of the bar and they took full advantage, turning the screw on Wednesday as Camiel Neghli and Luke Cundle went close before Azeez had a header saved.
Their sustained pressure told in the 71st minute when Alfie Doughty crossed for Azeez to head home from five yards out, 10 minutes after coming on.
Even then, Wednesday might have grabbed a point and substitute Lowe’s 20-yard effort hit the outside of the post.
