Portsmouth 1-2 Swansea City: Pompey survival hopes suffer a blow as Galbraith and Key strike
11 March 2026Portsmouth’s Championship survival prospects suffered a blow as Swansea City climbed into the top half of the table thanks to a 2-1 victory at Fratton Park.
Ethan Galbraith’s precise finish put Swansea in front and the visitors’ first-half control was rewarded with a second goal when Josh Key’s deflected drive dipped inside the far post.
Portsmouth had hit the woodwork through Jacob Brown early on, but laboured in attack until the on-loan Luton forward headed his side back into the game after the break.
With that John Mousinho’s team found some momentum for the first time, but Swansea held on to condemn Pompey to a fifth loss in their past eight league games.
The latest setback leaves Portsmouth four points clear of the relegation zone in 19th having suffered three successive home league defeats for the first time since 2018.
The mood is much brighter for Swansea, who are within five points of the play-off places – and in the top half for the first time since October – having claimed a rare success on the road.
